METROPOLITAN.ID | TANGERANG – Tangerang city administration will install closed-circuit television (CCTV) in a number of lakes and rivers area to anticipate flood. Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah said that the surveillance will be carried out through Tangerang LIVE Room. Currently, water levels at floodgate 10, Katulampa and Batu Belah can be monitored via CCTVs.

“We will install CCTVs to ease the surveillance since a number of flood zones in residential areas had been caused by overflowing of river,” he said, Monday, March 14, 2016. In addition, he noted that his office had assigned personnel to monitor water levels, particularly when rain falls.

“To open the floodgate for waters to flow and contain rainwaters to prevent overflowing,” he said. Lake will also be drained to contain water during rain and water from flooded residential areas and roads. “We have prepared several strategy to tackle flood. [It will be used] until the construction process of embankment and reservoir in several area completed,” he said.

Head of infrastructure planning division of Tangerang Regional Planning Agency Ireng Wicaksono said that his office will copy “sponge” absorbing mechanism to tackle flood in an area. He said that a dam will be built with “beds” in its lower structure to absorb water.
